Abbaye Royale du Moncel

Discover a Royal Abbey. Founded in 1309 by Philippe le Bel, the Abbaye Royale du Moncel was home to the nuns of Sainte Claire until the French Revolution. Today, you can immerse yourself in the daily life of the nuns thanks to the reconstitution of the rooms of the Middle Ages: frescoed refectory, dormitories under a century-old roof structure, gigantic vaulted cellars... The furnishings of the rooms and the mannequins showing the Poor Clares in their everyday activities give a real sense of the atmosphere of contemplation and prayer experienced by these "poor ladies". In summer, exhibitions and events complete the visit to the abbey and its 6-hectare park, which includes the remains of the castle of the King of Fécamp.
